Step 3. Battle

In this step, both players alternate performing actions until both players pass one after another. After that, this step ends. Since the villain player went first in setup, he or she also goes first in Battle.

Villain's Action: Sesshomaru attacks Inuyasha with black! Turn Sesshomaru around 180 degrees to attack with him. If Sesshomaru's black is equal to or greater than Inuyasha's black, then Inuyasha is defeated. Since Sesshomaru's black of 7 is greater than Inuyasha's black of 5, Inuyasha is turned facedown, defeated. Now steal a jewel shard from the hero player.

Hero's Action: Kaede attacks Sesshomaru with purple. Turn Kaede around 180 degrees. Kaede's purple equals Sesshomaru's so she defeats Sesshomaru. The villain player turns both Sesshomaru and Yura's Sword facedown. Now steal a jewel shard!

Villain's Action: Jaken attacks Keade using Purple. Jaken turns upside down to show that he has expended to attack. But that priestess Keade is smiling...

Hero's Response: Kaede plays Enchanted Sleep during the Villain's action! The hero player discards the top card of his or deck to pay the cost for playing Enchanted Sleep. Normally it is wrong to play an event during an opponent's action, but Enchanted Sleep tells its controller to play it whenever a Demon attacks a Priestess! Enchanted Sleep lowers Jaken's attacking color of purple by 3, making Jaken's attack now 0 purple to Kaede's 3 purple. Kaede isn't defeated! Jaken isn't defeated either, even though his attacking color became lower than Kaede's. Jaken just took a swing and missed.

Hero's Action: The hero now plays Inuyasha's Destructive Path. Pay the deck cost for Inuyasha's Destructive Path, play it and discard it. This event discards a location in play, so the villain now puts Resting Place into the discard pile.

Villain's Acton: The villain uses the card Medic Kit. Discard Medic Kit off of Jaken. Now choose 3 other cards in your discard pile and put them at the bottom of your deck.

Hero's Action: You pass because there is nothing left to do.

Villain's Action: You also pass. This step is over.

Now both players go to Recovery.
